Operon Splicer

Android instrument with four chord-aware lanes, internal synthesis, optional MIDI, and WAV stem export.

The problem

A mobile instrument needs to generate and reshape musical parts, play them without external hardware, and export audio for use elsewhere.

My role

Instrument design, Android interface, pattern generation, and audio/MIDI engineering.

What I built

  • Installable Android instrument
  • Four-lane internal synthesis and optional USB MIDI
  • Saved variants and finite WAV exports

The result

A mobile instrument that plays independently, exports its internal audio, and can route lanes to external MIDI hardware.

Implementation

How it works

The Kotlin and Jetpack Compose app generates chord-aware material across four lanes. It plays through internal Android audio or optional USB MIDI, saves variants, and exports finite WAV audio. Muting the other lanes isolates a part for export.

Technical context and methods

The selected public beta is v0.1.29, build 30, with a versioned APK and matching checksum.
