NGS Assay Planner

Compare NGS strategies by target scope, sensitivity, workflow, cost, risk, and validation burden.

The problem

Choosing a sequencing strategy before defining target breadth, sensitivity, sample context, and validation needs can leave the project with avoidable workflow or cost constraints.

My role

Assay-planning rules, scientific inputs, browser interface, and report generation.

What I built

  • NGS strategy comparison
  • Planning report with assumptions and tradeoffs
  • Risk flags and validation considerations

The result

A runnable browser planner that compares sequencing approaches from structured project requirements.

How it works

Enter structured project requirements. A deterministic TypeScript rules engine compares amplicon, hybrid-capture, exome, whole-genome, and metagenomic strategies, then assembles tradeoffs, risk flags, and validation considerations into a planning report.

Technical context and methods

The browser implementation mirrors a Python reference and uses static example scenarios, cost tiers, and vendor examples. Recommendations are planning aids that require expert review.

  • TypeScript
  • Deterministic rules
  • Typed planning models
  • Validation requirements in reports
