EntropySeq

Analyze DNA sequence complexity across sliding windows and export low-entropy regions.

The problem

A sequence-wide composition count can hide local regions dominated by a small set of bases. Those regions need a windowed view.

My role

Sequence-analysis logic, interactive profile, and export workflow.

What I built

  • Sliding-window entropy profile
  • Low-entropy window table
  • FASTA and CSV exports

The result

A runnable sequence-analysis tool for locating and exporting regions with low compositional entropy.

Implementation

How it works

Paste or upload DNA, choose window and step sizes, and calculate Shannon entropy from base frequencies. Inspect the profile and low-entropy windows, then export the table or extracted sequences.

Technical context and methods

The project includes a Streamlit application and CLI alongside the runnable browser route. The browser supports sequence input, windowed profiles, low-entropy extraction, and FASTA/CSV export.
