AssayIndex

Search and compare laboratory tests across source catalogs, with downloadable records and clear source status.

The problem

Laboratory catalogs use different names, codes, specimen fields, and update formats. Comparing tests requires checking both the record and its source.

My role

Laboratory data modeling, search and comparison design, and application engineering.

What I built

  • Searchable test catalog with source links and missing-data labels
  • Side-by-side test comparison
  • Versioned public dataset downloads

The result

A public application that lets users find tests, compare source records, and download published data.

Implementation

How it works

Source records pass through schema validation and terminology search. Results retain their source status, can be compared side by side, and are included in downloadable releases only when approved for publication.

Technical context and methods

The public application includes published records, staged submissions, and live source candidates with distinct labels. Tests cover search, record relationships, downloads, and the rules for displaying federated results.

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Schema validation
  • Terminology normalization
  • Federated search
  • Versioned catalog builds
